Conversations with The BLT Podcast

Today we’d like to introduce you to The BLT Podcast. Them and their team share their story with us below:

The Black Lunch Table started precisely as the name suggests; a group of black kids sitting at the lunch table, cracking jokes. It then involved a group chat (of which there have been many versions) and then finally a podcast. Being a group of black men growing up in predominantly white schools, we always needed a safe space to find support, ask weird questions, and overall, just be ourselves. The idea for the podcast was simply to share that daily experience with more people and hope it brings some joy to people’s day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The podcast has gone through more changes than we can count. We’ve changed the number of hosts, the number of microphones, the format of the show, and pretty much anything else than can be changed. Through it all though, there was never any infighting or days where we thought about stopping the podcast. Every “bump” we faced was just us making the podcast (and sometimes ourselves) better. The road may have not been smooth, but it has been a good one.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The thing we are most proud of is our consistency and quality. We drop a new episode every week, without fail. We would put up our audio quality against any similar podcast out. To us, that is the thing that separates us from others. There may be podcast with crazier hosts or more arguing but none of them drop as consistently and with as much quality content (and audio) as we do.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
A: We like to think of the podcast and our listeners as a community. The best questions we get are always from people outside of the group chat. And we love to get questions from people when we are out in the city. So, if you ever want some objective feedback or you want to hear 4 guys’ perspectives on any issue please send in your questions! We take them at or @thebltpod on social media. Or if you ever see one of us in public, please don’t hesitate to share your question!
