Conversations with Davonia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Davonia.

Hi Davonia, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always loved music since I was a kid and I would always take interest in instruments. I was that kiss beating on desks at schools making beats. I started actually recording music around 2011 when I was able to get a cheap home studio and put music online. I would perform around Goldsboro North Carolina which is where I am originally from before I moved to Va 2 years ago. As I became to evolve, I learned to produce, mix and master my own music as well.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It hasn’t been a smooth road because there have been so many times, I have up feeling like I wasn’t good enough or not having the means to even do music. Working so hard trying to make ends meet and not having the time for my passion was frustrating as well.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a producer, r&b, and hip-hop artist, and songwriter. I specialize in hip-hop and r&b. I am known for my songs and my beats. I am most proud of everything to be honest because I feel like I put my all into everything I do and it shows. You can really feel the emotion in my music. It’s not just thrown together like most music is these days

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
My advice is to be yourself and to not give up. If music is really your passion don’t worry about who listens, put your art out anyway. Because you never know who may need it.
