Community Highlights: Meet Michelle May of Vegan Food Popup

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle May. 

Hi Michelle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
After working for over a decade in tech, I transitioned to the food industry in 2015 as a recipe developer, nutrition coach, and private chef. I am a graduate of culinary and nutrition programs at Matthew Kenney Culinary and am certified in Plant-Based Nutrition through Cornell University. 

In 2019, I launched Vegan Food Popup to supported local food and craft vendors by creating a bustling venue for sharing their offerings with the community. 

With a lifelong love for food, I’m passionate about helping improve the lives of individuals and the health of the planet through the way we eat. 

In addition to founding Vegan Food Popup, I am is also the founder and President of Seva Foods and Benjii’s Canine Cuisine. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Covid has definitely been my biggest challenge. We were shut down for a year and a half. 

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
The Encinitas Vegan Food Popup is San Diego’s biggest all vegan food festival. This FREE, weekly event held every Sunday and showcases the best plant-based food in So Cal, featuring a diverse lineup of over 50 vendors from San Diego, Orange County and LA. This event is located at at 459 S Coast Hwy 101 in downtown Encinitas and is easily accessible via public transportation. Kid-friendly, dog-friendly, and free parking available at the nearby Coaster Station.
