Community Highlights: Meet Isaac Gordon of Breakpoint Booking

Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaac Gordon.

Hi Isaac, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a Talent Agent and Business Owner with twenty-plus years of experience in entertainment. I’ve worked in Radio and Television, and I’ve held job titles ranging from Production Director and Traffic Director to Talent Manager and Talent Buyer. Today, I own and run New Legacy Enterprises (NLE) which is a parent company for two music companies; Breakpoint Booking and WeAreMonsterEnt. WeAreMonsterEnt is a full-service talent management company that carries a suite of artist services such as music distribution, marketing, and publicity. Breakpoint Booking is a full-service talent agency representing developing, “breaking,” and established talent in music and comedy. WeAreMonsterEnt represents music artists in all genres and has distributed projects via Redeye Worldwide, Empire, Universal UMGD, and Vydia. Breakpoint Booking has booked events all over the world and was the first agency home for acts such as Tank & The Bangas, Benny the Butcher, Jane Handcock, Lost Dog Street Band, and Harry Mack. Breakpoint launched officially in 2018 and has since grown to house ten agents. We all work remotely in markets such as Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, New Jersey, Brooklyn, Denver, and Los Angeles. NLE is based in Los Angeles, California, and I live and work out of LA.

My midwestern roots are all Ohio though. I am from Copley, Ohio. I graduated from Copley High School. I’ve always had a passion for music and entertainment. My earliest childhood memories were centered around music e.g., my older sisters blasting Madonna, Michael Jackson, Stevie Nicks, Devo. Our kitchen radio was stuck on WZAK for at least a decade. I had a short phase of wanting to be an electrical engineer at age seven, but by ten, I had written my first rhyme, and it was pretty much a wrap after that.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
COVID was a very difficult time. Breakpoint Booking officially launched in 2018, so we ran head first into a pandemic. All we could do was hunker down and wait. I left LA and moved back to Ohio for a bit. We made it through and came out stronger, but it was definitely unnerving. When things began to reopen, we decided to make preparations to launch our comedy department, which we launched in January 2022. Since its inception it has grown, and we are now booking comedy events all over the world as well as representing acts with various credits from Saturday Night Live alum to CONAN and Comedy Central appearances.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a boutique booking agency currently specializing in music and comedy. We are ranked #1 on Google for the search term “boutique booking agency,” and we are pretty excited about it. We love working with developing talent, and we are always looking for new acts who are moving tickets locally. We pride ourselves with finding talent that is right at that “breaking point,” hence the name. We are minority-owned. We service nightclubs, amphitheaters, coffee shops, venues, live streaming, comedy clubs, PACs, colleges, fairs, casinos, weddings, and corporate or private parties and events worldwide. Visit us online and check out our blog, which has a ton of information about booking and what we do!

What’s next?
We have some exciting plans for the future. It is too early to discuss any of them, but I am stoked at the possibilities. June 2023 will mark 5 years for Breakpoint Booking. it will be great to see us hit that mark. I also just moved back to the west coast, so if there are any fellow Ohioans out west, hit me up. I’d love to network.
