Check Out Zoë Tanner’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zoë Tanner.

Hi Zoë, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As a kid, I was always taking pictures. Landscape, portraits, anything I could photograph, I would. I would always bother my best friends growing up to let me take pictures of them or to go out and take photos with me. Everything took off for me when I got a camera as a gift for Christmas. It was a used Nikon D3500 starter kit. I started my business with a name on an Instagram account and a refurbished camera in hand. I’ve been doing photography professionally for only a little over a year now, and I think the best part of it all is getting to network and meet some other small businesses.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When I was a kid, I went into heart failure and ended up needing a heart transplant. In December of 2008, I got my life-saving transplant surgery at only 6 years old. I battle with it every day of my life. I take endless medications and take consistent trip to the doctors. Ever since I was old enough to realize how lucky I am to have gotten that second shot at life, I’ve wanted to be able to bring joy and happiness to other people through doing what I love. I’ve always vowed to myself to make sure the people who cross paths with me feel loved, heard, and valued. Being given a second chance at life has really opened my eyes to different values and life perspectives which is why I do what I do.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in creative & lifestyle photography. I’m most proud of how memorable my work is. It has its own distinct style, and when people see it, they know it’s my work and that I created it.

I’m really big on body positivity-related photography.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was super outgoing. I could make friends anywhere, anytime. I will admit I wasn’t very good at math and still am not very good at math. I actually did third grade twice. I loved being outside and swimming. I really enjoyed reading too, I remember in fifth grade I was reading the Harry Potter book series. I was really into writing short fiction stories.

I danced from the time I could walk to the time I graduated from high school. I really enjoyed rock/alternative music; my mom even took me to a fallout boy concert when I was young.

This is my granddaughter and we love her to death. She is highly talented and that we are very proud of. What she does is done with her heart. We are blessed to watch her grow into the woman she is today.
