Check Out Traci Franklin’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Traci Franklin.

Hi Traci, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am a mother of 5 and have always had an entrepreneurial spirit. Over the years I have had many employment positions and have done several entrepreneur jobs like Avon, I was a Travel agent, and sold products for MLM companies. In 2019 I went back to school and earned my Associate’s Degree in Health and Human Services. I have always wanted to be of service to the public and earning my degree in this field seemed to be the way to be able to do that. I was so proud of my accomplishments with earning my degree and went to work as a family liaison for a Child Enrichment Center. Even though I was working in my field and liked servicing families, I still had this desire to be my own boss. Being a mother sometimes makes it hard to keep jobs because if your children are sick or have appointments and you need to call off, employers are only understanding to a certain extent. This is understandable because they need reliable employees to run their business but it becomes stressful trying to be a reliable employee and a parent of multiple kids too. I actually was let go from a job because my son was sick for almost a week straight and I had to leave work early and call off. I was on a staffing assignment and was still in my first 30 days. They told me that I had a lot going on and because of that, they were going to let me go. I was so heartbroken because I liked what I did but knew I needed to be there for my son and just wished they had a little more compassion and understanding. While working as a family liaison, I was still trying to figure out how I could start a business and give myself the freedom to make my own hours and be able to take care of my children when they are sick without being fired for it. In 2020 may be around the spring or summer, I was taking a shower one day thinking about what I wanted to do for my 1-year anniversary with my partner. I started to fantasize about how romantic and intimate it would be to have rose petals and candles set up in the hotel room for us. Literally, a light bulb went off in my head and I said to myself “I can create this for other people”. I hurried out of the shower and ran into the living room where my boyfriend was and started jumping up and down saying ” I got I got it”! I told him my business idea and he told me to go for it! This was around the time that we were getting stimulus checks so I began to do research about how to get an LLC and how much it would cost. I waited about 3 to 4 months before I went and got my LLC because I wanted to make sure I knew what I was doing and that I was sure this was what I wanted to do. Now here I am a year and four months later thriving and consistently building my business. I love it!!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Of course not! Lol. When thinking of being a business owner you think it’s so simple and that customers are just going to buy everything you are selling and money is going to stack up so fast. Once you actually become a business owner you realize it’s not at all what you imagined. At least not when you are first starting off. The road to entrepreneurship is shaky at first, then a little bumpy, then smooth, then a little shaky, then bumpy, then back smooth, etc. This is because as business owners we have so much trial and error to go through to really grow and find our voice within our industry. Many struggles for me have been learning how to market my business, how to get funding, and understanding what it is that my customers need. Also, for a while, I was doing everything alone. Learning, researching, working. I didn’t have any guidance and that made thing challenging.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Sk’s Creations of Love is an ambiance and romantic rendezvous concierge business that helps plan and execute the most intimate, and unforgettable experiences for couples or private events. We provided services for couples who are celebrating wedding nights, birthdays, anniversaries, proposals, or just because. Our services included Romantic Suite and Home Experiences, VIP Date Night Experiences and we also sell Do it yourself romantic home kits. Our client really loves our Suite and Home Romantic set-ups where they get to walk into a room with rose petals scattered across the bed, candles lit throughout the room, balloons, chocolate-covered strawberries, champagne/wine, and any additional intimate products they desire to help ignite passion and intimacy. I am most proud of the fact that I am trusted to help my clients with the intimacy and romance in their relationships. Not everyone is open about needing more of this within their relationships so to me it’s a big deal when they come to me for help. To hear the reviews about how much this was needed and how they had an amazing time really lets me know that I am doing something right and purposeful. Looking on the outside people see my business as just a decoration or event planning business but my business is about restoring passion, bringing couples closer, and providing a space for quality time to focus on one another. This is what sets me apart from others. I consider myself to be love. I have so much love to give and love seeing others truly happy in love.

What does success mean to you?
I define success by many things. Doing what you say you are going to do and having that self-motivation to reach your goals is one way I define success. Understanding that you must always have a student mentality and keep an open mind will allow you to obtain knowledge and wisdom on your journey is another way I define success.
