Today we’d like to introduce you to No Conscription League.
Hi No Conscription League, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We started as a high school project between our guitarist, Gianni, and bassist, Harry. When we both went to college, we put up flyers looking for other members where we found our other guitarist, Andrew, and our drummer, Jake. Ever since, we’ve been trying to create music we’re passionate about by combining our different musical influences such as rock, punk, jazz, shoegaze, etc. We’ve released one demo so far and are currently in the process of writing an EP.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Before we met Andrew and Jake, we had trouble finding consistent members who also shared an artistic vision with us. Ever since we’ve come together, though, it’s been relatively smooth! It’s been an incredibly exciting period of our lives being able to play shows and feel a part of a wider musical community.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Our music is at heart a collaborative project between our members, combining our individual influences into something we feel is greater. We’re incredibly proud of the music we make, especially our demo we released this summer, but are always looking towards the future of our music. We’re always experimenting with genres and styles we enjoy. We always love what we’re playing and our creative process.
We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
When we put the posters up, the reason we responded to Andrew was he went to elementary school with Harry and Gianni. He switched schools but Harry still had his contact. When he reached out to our flyer, we reconnected. If we didn’t have that contact there’s a good chance he wouldn’t have been in the band, so luck has been with us since the beginning.
