Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Springs
Hi Dominique, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur one day but I had no idea what that looked like for me. One day I was in the kitchen racking my brain over this and beating myself up. My oldest daughter yelled out to me and said “Sorry mom!” I responded “What did you do?” She had broke another one of my wine glasses. I was over it and I started thinking that I needed something that didn’t break and was durable because I was tired of buying wine glasses. I did some research and stainless steel popped up but I wasn’t sold that people were actually using stainless steel wine glasses as an alternative. I ordered a set for myself and I loved them. I went and found different vendors who could make a style I liked and from there Springs&Steel was born.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been smooth! The marketing is always a struggle for me. I’m not a content creator so I rely on others to help me and sometimes the videos or pictures does’nt always live up to my expectations. Also, the shipping from my vendors is a challenge but that just comes with the territory.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I received my B.A in Communications and New Media Studies from the College of Mount St. Joseph. I also received my Master’s Degree from there as well. I was a foster teenager so even me going to college twice and graduating was a huge accomplishment. Most of my career has been in sales but the last few years, I have worked in Human Resources. I am still currently in the field.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Normally I am not a risk taker, but now that I own a business I have found myself to be more of one. I have to be bold to try new things and figure out what works and what doesn’t work for my business. I have adopted a new quote in my life “The higher the risk, the higher the reward.”
