Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Baker.
Hi Amber, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
The journey to starting Stretch + Thrive began when I made the decision later in life to return to school for physical therapy. I’ve always been fascinated by the body and its ability to do extraordinary things. During my time working in outpatient physical therapy, I gained invaluable experience and truly enjoyed helping people become the best version of themselves physically.
At the same time, I felt a pull toward something different. I wanted to work with individuals who were more proactive about their health and wellness, people who were motivated to address the root cause of their discomfort rather than simply mask the pain.
That passion led me to expand my skill set and ultimately take a leap of faith. I saw an opportunity in Findlay to create a space where active individuals could receive the care they need to keep doing what they love. Stretch + Thrive was built from that vision: helping people move better, feel better, and stay active for the long run.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to starting Stretch + Thrive has certainly not been a smooth one but I don’t think it’s meant to be. Building something from the ground up, especially a service that many people aren’t immediately familiar with or don’t yet realize they need, comes with its challenges.
That said, the journey has been incredibly rewarding. Both personally and professionally, I’ve experienced a tremendous amount of growth. I’ve had to continually learn, adapt, and evolve in order to better serve my clients and strengthen my business.
So no, it hasn’t been smooth but I wouldn’t change a thing. Every challenge has played a role in shaping what Stretch + Thrive is today.
We’ve been impressed with Stretch + Thrive, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Stretch + Thrive is centered around one simple goal: helping people move better so they can continue doing the things they love. We specialize in assisted stretching, with a strong focus on improving mobility, reducing discomfort, and supporting long-term movement health. Whether it’s gardening, golfing, walking, or running, our goal is to keep our clients active and doing what brings them joy.
What sets us apart is our hands-on, personalized approach. Every session is tailored to the individual. We take the time to understand how each person moves, where they feel limited, and what their goals are, so we can address the root of the issue rather than just the symptoms.
In addition to assisted stretching, we offer red light therapy as a complementary service. It’s a comfortable, relaxing experience where clients can lie down in a private room while the light works to support muscle recovery, reduce inflammation, and promote overall relaxation. It pairs well with stretching and gives clients another tool to support their wellness routine.
What I’m most proud of, brand-wise, is the environment we’ve created. Stretch + Thrive is a place where people feel supported, educated, and empowered in their bodies. It’s not just about feeling better for the moment, it is about building a foundation for long-term health and mobility. I want readers to know that this is a space for anyone who wants to move better, feel better, and stay active for years to come.
How do you define success?
To me, success is defined by outcomes. It comes down to whether my clients are truly benefiting from the work we’re doing together; are they moving better, feeling better, and able to get back to the activities they enjoy? Are they reaching the goals they set for themselves? And just as importantly, are they happy with their experience?
Success also means staying aligned with the vision I set out to create. It’s about building something meaningful, continuing to grow, and making a genuine impact in people’s lives. When I see clients leave feeling better than when they walked in, and continuing to make progress over time, that’s what success looks like to me.
