Community Highlights: Meet Nicholas Wank of Ohio Movement Clinic

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicholas Wank.

Hi Nicholas, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
It started with a lower back injury while playing High School basketball. I had seen multiple providers but experienced little to no relief until I had met my chiropractor who gave me a diagnosis, treatment and full plan to get back to playing basketball. After that experience I shadowed the office throughout High School and went on to major in Exercise Science at the University of Ashland and was accepted into Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida. After finishing school I started with a local practice in Findlay, Ohio and spent the next 5 years as an associate before branching out to start my own clinic. With the span of the 5 years at the local office I got married, bought a house and had our first child and now expecting our second at the end of this year.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Looking back at my short career so far I would say that I have been blessed with a great support system that has helped me through to where I am now. Initially, it was the standard “keep your head above water” feeling when it comes to navigating school, family, friends and marriage at the beginning of my Chiropractic career. My biggest struggle as I continued into practice as an associate was finding my passion for how to implement chiropractic care in my community, I had an amazing mentor in Dr. Kirk at my first associate position that guided and challenged me to consistently grow and always learn that lead me to create a steady flow of patients. However, I have always had a passion for implementing exercises and movement more efficiently in someone’s care plan to put movement at the forefront of treatment. That is when I had the opportunity to branch out and create my own model under my own roof which led to me opening Ohio Movement Clinic. Now, it is how to create an efficient process and systems to efficiently help patients and run a company.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Ohio Movement Clinic is a chiropractic office in Findlay Ohio that focuses on combining hands on treatments with active rehabilitation and advanced recovery tools to treat a wide variety of injuries. The forefront of our mission is to utilize movements and strengthening the human body to overcome chronic and acute injuries for long term pain and quality of life improvements. We have a wide variety of tools and pride ourselves on the ability to meet anyone where they are in the health journey and have the right tools to accommodate everyone in the community. I am most proud in spending quality time with each person that invests in themselves and becomes a patient of the office, they are met with the same rigor that we use in our own lives to be motivated and educated to take responsibility of our own injuries and live the best life possible. I want the readers to know that you are more than just a number or insurance bill you are someone that is respected and heard and will be given advice on your injuries and educated on ways to improve outside the clinic and how to take responsibility of your injuries and not be self reliant on having endless appointments to make a change.

We utilize several therapies to get the depth of natural internal healing like PEMF therapy, Winback Tecar therapy and shockwave therapy are the staples for soft tissue treatment as well as hands on muscle release techniques and Instrument assisted soft tissue therapies like scraping and cupping therapy.

Any big plans?
I think it is always positive to make grand long-term plans even if they seem unattainable. For Ohio Movement Clinic the options really are limitless. I like the idea of becoming multidisciplinary and having several trainers, therapists and introducing nutrition and mental health resources. There are options for franchising the clinic and expanding into more locations throughout the state of Ohio, For now, keeping it simple and not turning down any options and see what fits with the overall brand and message of the company.
