Today we’d like to introduce you to Adaim Ochoa.
Hi Adaim, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
It all started with my son. He’s autistic, and as I navigated the world of disability services, I quickly realized that what he needed simply wasn’t accessible. So, I set out to become what he needed.
I left my decade-long career as a professional makeup artist and went back to school. In 2021, I earned my B.A. in Psychology, shortly after giving birth to my second child and becoming a single mom. Soon after, I was accepted into the University of Southern California’s Occupational Therapy Doctoral Program, the number one OT program in the country.
During my time at USC, the barriers faced by individuals with support needs, especially those from marginalized communities, became even more evident. That fueled my advocacy work and inspired my doctoral capstone project, which focused on supporting families navigating the disability system. From that project, Inclusive Pathways Consulting was born.
What began as pro bono work grew into a passion-driven business rooted in community, diversity, and inclusion. After seeing the tremendous need and impact of my work, I decided to officially create my own consulting and advocacy business to continue helping families and empowering others to find their voice.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not at all, it’s been a journey filled with both challenges and growth. As a single mother and first-generation Latina, working on building a business and brand from the ground up has been a constant learning experience. I’ve had to teach myself the ins and outs of entrepreneurship while juggling motherhood and professional responsibilities.
There have been moments of self-doubt and imposter syndrome, but each obstacle has strengthened my purpose. Every challenge has reminded me why I started to make the world a little more accessible and inclusive for families like mine.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work centers around consulting, advocacy, and occupational therapy. Through Inclusive Pathways Consulting, I help families navigate complex systems such as Regional Center services and IEP processes. Beginning in January 2026, I will also be offering Independent Facilitator services to support families within California’s Self-Determination Program.
In addition, I’m preparing to launch my early intervention occupational therapy practice once I take my boards exam, specializing in sensory integration, feeding, and myofascial release.
I’m most proud of my children, they are the reason behind everything I do. What sets me apart is the deep empathy I bring to my work. I understand firsthand what many of these families experience, and that allows me to advocate effectively and compassionately. I treat every child I work with as if they were my own, and I believe families can feel that sincerity.
If there’s one thing people know me for, it’s my fearless advocacy and my unwavering commitment to equity and inclusion.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
What I love most about Los Angeles is its diversity. There’s no other city like it, so many cultures, languages, and perspectives beautifully interwoven. It’s a place where community and creativity thrive, and I feel grateful to call it home.
What I like least? Definitely the traffic! It tests everyone’s patience, but I guess it’s the price we pay for living in one of the most vibrant cities in the world.
