Meet Rebecca Wagner of Anderson Township (Cincinnati)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebecca Wagner

Hi Rebecca, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey began when my daughter experienced severe gastro intestinal issues during infancy. I was not pleased with the “conventional” suggestions from her pediatrician at the time and decided to take matters in to my own hands. My gut told me there had to be a better way…a more natural, gentle approach to helping her little tummy. It started as a simple research project, and before I knew it, I was on a deep dive in to the world of holistic nutrition and all that encompasses holistic living. I found a new practitioner for my daughter who was very much in line with this approach and suggested we overhaul her diet to exclude most mainstream staples (i.e. gluten, dairy, eggs and soy.) The results both intrigued and encouraged me to begin my own path towards both learning and sharing as much as I could surrounding this approach to life. From here, I became a Certified Holistic Nutritionist, and at the same time, began experimenting in the kitchen on how to best provide snacks and treats that my whole family could enjoy. After years of trial and error (while health and nutrition coaching on the side), I felt that I had finally found my stride and began sharing my treats with friends, neighbors, etc. I never initially had plans to begin a baking business, but when multiple people were asking about my products, something just felt right 😊. I am so glad I listened to that call and said yes to something I honestly wasn’t at all prepared for. I have now been in business for an entire year (as of Feb 28th) and this is truly just the beginning!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! Lol. Trying to start and grow a business while being a mom and keeping up with life is no easy task! Some specific struggles have been navigating the social media world, learning tracking and budgeting and I think we can all agree that marketing is a never ending bumpy ride!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Currently, I am best known as a holistic baker, which is specifically defined as “a baker who prioritizes using whole, unprocessed ingredients, often locally sourced, while considering the nutritional value of their baked goods, focusing on creating treats that are not only delicious but also considered healthy and beneficial for the consumer; essentially, baking with a “whole-body” approach to food choices.

In my opinion, this definition alone is exactly what sets me apart from others in the field. I not only cater to food sensitivities (gluten, dairy, etc ), but I also strive to ensure that every item produced is not going to send your blood sugar on a roller coaster or wreck havoc on your digestive system. Gentle, stabilizing, delicious treats are always the goal and I am proud to say I reach this with every product.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Well first and foremost I would be nowhere without my husband. He has always been so supportive in every endeavor I have ever pursued. I am incredibly blessed and grateful to have him.

I am also lucky enough to say that the support that surrounds me and the mentors I continue to stumble upon are outstanding, and sometimes overwhelming!. I have always said that if you believe in yourself and you truly follow your heart, the rest will come…and this is undoubtedly what has gotten me to this point and will continue to carry me forward. Be your best friend. Love yourself. Believe in yourself!! And the right people will find you 💕
