Today we’d like to introduce you to Chrishelle Smith
Hi Chrishelle, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Yes. I was born and raised right here in Columbus, Ohio. I attended and graduated from Eastmoor Academy class of 2007. Shortly after high school I went into early childhood education for a few years before deciding to go into the Cosmetology field.
I enrolled into Aveda Institute Columbus in 2013 and I graduated in February of 2014. I went on to obtain my cosmetology license a few months later in July of 2014 and immediately began working in a natural hair salon in August. I worked there for some time and learned many things about the industry and business in general. I also began to build my clientele and professional relationships with fellow stylists and business owners. Eventually, I decided to switch salon homes and I went to Westerville to work directly with my mentor Kweli Buckner. Working under her was amazing, especially because she is the reason I even decided to come into this field. Kweli was my stylist growing up from age 10 to present day if necessary. Just being in the salon as a younger girl and seeing all of the things our hair can do sparked my interest and creativity. I only worked in Westerville for a short period of time. It was hard trying to get the Far East side clientele I had to travel North. I then made the professional decision to move back to a salon out East. I began working at Serenity Beauty Bar in Whitehall at the beginning of 2021. I am currently located at ALorraine Salon in Whitehall, Ohio. My brand name is Pretty Like Belle and I specialize in natural hair care. I also do some braids, color and weaves.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It absolutely has not been a smooth road. Staying inspired and confident were a couple of struggles I’ve experienced.

Pretty Like Belle is a hair business run by me, offering many different hair services like braids/twists, color services, silk press & weaves. I specialize in natural hair with braids and silk press being my most popular services. What sets me apart is my commitment to hair growth and educating clients on hair care. I’m proud of my professionalism and dedication, ensuring clients receive high-quality service and valuable hair maintenance tips.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is being able to attain anything you set out to do and worked to get.
