Community Highlights: Meet Kevin Libal of Libal Productions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kevin Libal

Hi Kevin, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I fell in love with the world of production when I watched the Rocky series when I was 5 years old with my dad one week when we got the VHS set. Falling in love with the story and then learning how the process went for Sylvester Stallone in his journey to write, direct, star and create such an inspiring character was the fire I needed to try and be like him and create my own journey in video production. In 1997 I recreated the Rambo movies but with my own spin on it called Kevbo where my dad was amazing and recording and basically directed the short film where my brothers were the bad guys. We would record to tape and edit by rewinding and starting the record again at the next scene. Any way, ended up taking classes in high school making morning announcement videos and continued to study it in college and graduated from Cleveland State University with a degree in Film & Digital Media. I wanted an internship and the Cavaliers were doing a program where I applied and rightfully so did not get it as I had really no experience besides recording Muay Thai and MMA fights at some local gyms because I would also fight at these gyms. I then obtained an internship at the Department of Economic Development where I helped produce a show called Cleveland Means Business on TV20 and with the Athletic Department with Cleveland State shooting the sporting events and streaming to the Horizon League Network. The next year I applied for the internship again at the Cavs and got the internship even though I didn’t get it the year before. I then moved up within the company to a Senior Producer for 13 years. I’ve created and made some very memorable content winning 4 NATAS Emmy Awards while also freelancing and now started my own company called Libal Productions LLC. I began shooting my gyms fights at Vanyo MMA and then traveling around the US with brands like TISSOT shooting at their activations and events. Seeing the possibilities to use my passion for video and photography to create my own company was starting to come to life. I recently became Libal Productions LLC this year and am starting to promote as I continue to learn. I love creating and bringing peoples vision to life and its been a fun ride so far and excited to see what is next.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Like the Frank Stallone song in Rambo “It’s a long road when your on your own” and I definitely had a lot of struggles and learning curves along the way. Long hours, late nights and many times of doubts and not seeing an outcome you wanted gets hard but I was lucky enough to work with some of the coolest and creative people to get through the struggles and tough times. I am currently working on my own YouTube series called Healthy Hangouts where we find individuals and businesses that have a special hobby or story to tell on their path to find happiness and live their best, healthy lifestyle. We do this over a 3 course Zero Doubt Kitchen meal shot at Creative House Studios. It has been hard because I am personally funding the project with the help of our sponsor Zero Doubt Kitchen who provides the meals we eat as we do the interview. Everyday is a learning experience and keeping the mindset right has been crucial. I’ve been able to keep a clear and healthy mindset because of my supportive and loving girlfriend. She has given me the motivation, support and confidence to do what I am doing. She’s my Adrian 🙂
